Professor Michael Adams is an internationally recognised specialist in corporate law, governance, securities markets regulation, and legal education (especially e-learning). Michael has been writing, teaching and regularly presenting on all these topics for over 20 years. He is a Fellow of the Australian College of Educators (FACE), as well as the Australian Academy of Law (FAAL), and is also a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia (FGIA & UK FCIS). Professor Adams has been the former President of the Australasian Law Teachers Association, the Corporate Law Teachers Association and Chartered Secretaries Australia (now Governance Institute of Australia). He is the co-author of ten books and 30 chapters, 50 articles and over 250 conference/seminar presentations. In 2000, he was the recipient of the Australian University Teacher of the Year, for Law and Legal Studies, as well as 2005 CSA President's Award.
Peter brings expertise in cybersecurity and Information Governance. He is a Director in Ferrier Hodgson Forensic IT practice and a lecturer at the University of Technology Sydney where his teaching and research focuses on project management, data analytics and information systems. His previous employment includes positions as a Director leading the Sydney Forensic IT practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Acting Sergeant in the NSW Police High Tech Crime Unit.
Over the course of a combined 18 years in these roles, Peter has undertaken analysis of electronic evidence in hundreds of criminal and civil matters, presented expert evidence to state and federal courts, investigated and remediated internal and external data breaches for numerous organisations, managed complex electronic discovery environments, and provided advice to government, public and private organisations in relation to cybersecurity and IT governance related issues.
Peter holds a Diploma of Policing, Bachelor in Computer Science, Master of Business Administration and recently completed his doctorate with a thesis examining accounting information systems and IT governance. He is also a Certified Computer Examiner and Certified Information Security Systems Professional.
Christopher Colwell is a Fellow, Life Member and former director of Records and Information Management Professionals Australasia and an Associate of the Governance Institute of Australia and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. For the last 20 years he has implemented records and information management programs in Australian State and Commonwealth public sector agencies. He has also held broader corporate governance responsibilities within these agencies.
Chris holds an Associate Diploma of Arts (Library Practice), a Bachelor of Applied Science (information Studies), a Master of Arts (Information & Knowledge Management) and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Corporate Governance.
He is a Sessional Lecturer in the Information and Knowledge Management Program at the University of Technology, Sydney where he is currently completing his PhD. Chris’ doctoral research explores how diverse professional groups within Australian Government agencies understand and perceive the concept of records as part of their everyday work practices.
Carol is Group Manager for Outcomes, Information and Knowledge for Inland Revenue NZ. She is an expert in information management practice with extensive experience working with Australian and New Zealand organisations as their lead on enterprise information management, information governance and enterprise information architecture.
Carol’s experience spans both public and private sector industries including higher education, local government, engineering & project management, health & medicine, banking & financial services, law and transportation.
Carol holds Master’s degrees in Information Management and in Information Architecture, with undergraduate degrees in Library and Information Science, and in Sociology.
In addition to this Carol is currently completing doctoral research with Victoria University of Wellington in the area of Information Governance and Privacy with a research focus on the use of advanced analytical techniques and privacy of personal information.
Carol’s work focuses on understanding the fundamental nature of information and its impact on people and organisations.
Matthew is the head of Legal Informatics at Gilbert + Tobin. He leads a specialised in-house multidisciplinary legal informatics team that utilises a variety of data analytics and eDiscovery, and other AI technology tools. These technology tools are used to facilitate large scale document/data production and review for commercial litigation, regulatory compliance (ATO, ASIC, ACCC) and due diligence for merger and acquisition transactions.
Matthew has more than 20 years of experience in the legal technology industry, including two of Australia's preeminent law firms, Allens for 13 years and Gilbert + Tobin for seven years.
Matthew is Chair of the Association of Litigation Support Managers (ALSM), NSW chapter. He was an inaugural recipient of the International Legal Technology Association's (ITLA's) Browning Marean Scholarship in 2015, providing international recognition of his leadership in eDiscovery and litigation technology.
Andrew King is the founder and Strategic Advisor of E-Discovery Consulting, where he independently advises law firms on legal technology and eDiscovery. Andrew is an expert in all aspects of the electronic discovery process and has considerable expertise in the project management of major eDiscovery projects in data/document intensive disputes and litigation.
Andrew is one of the architects of the New Zealand High Court discovery rules and has over 15 years of experience managing and advising on discovery projects for law firms, government agencies and corporate organisations. Prior to establishing E-Discovery Consulting, Andrew worked for 10 years at multinational law firms in London and for over two years at a leading New Zealand law firm.
Andrew is the founder of New Zealand's premier legal technology event - LawFest NZ, which provides a platform to encourage greater adoption of technology by lawyers and their firms. He is also committed to industry development and raising awareness of eDiscovery and legal technology through his NZ E-Discovery Blog.

Increasing the Acceptance of Technology Assisted Review
A recognised leader in the privacy industry, Melanie Marks has established and run privacy governance programs for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and the National eHealth Transition Authority (now the Australian Digital Health Agency). The current President of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (iappANZ), Melanie is also an Advisory Board member of Information Governance ANZ and an Expert Advisor to LexisNexis on privacy and data protection. Her career spans 15 years in privacy compliance, risk management and strategy and related legal fields.
Shaun is a founder and non-executive director of QxBranch, one of the first quantum computing software and data analytics companies in the world. He is also the founder of Shoal, a systems engineering house that focuses on large-scale and technology-intensive systems ranging from major defence systems such as warships and submarines, to constellations of satellites to public transportation systems.
Shaun has been active in his professional life for many years having previously chaired the Engineers Australia National Committee on Space Engineering and been national president of the Systems Engineering Society of Australia. He is also a former director of the Australian Space Research Institute, a life member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and a member of the International Association for the Advancement of Space Safety.
Shaun holds a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, a master's degree in aerospace systems engineering, a graduate diploma in information systems, and a graduate certificate in business management. He is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and was previously a board member of the Australian Defence Rapid Prototyping Development and Evaluation (RPDE) Program.
