The International Right to Know (RTK) Day recognises the community’s right to access government-held information. This event brings together experts with multiple perspectives from journalism, politics, public communication, social media, film and information management.
Peter Timmins is a lawyer, former diplomat and longtime advocate for open and accountable government. He writes the Open and Shut Blog and was awarded the Australian Press Council Press Freedom Medal in 2017 for work associated with freedom of information and as founder and at the time convener of the Australian Open Government Partnership Network
Dr Maureen Henninger is currently a Senior Lecturer in the School of Communication at the University of Technology, Sydney. Her teaching and research interests are in information retrieval, information management and data journalism, with particular reference to search in the digital environment and has written books on Internet searching and the hidden Web.
Dr Jonathan Marshall is currently a Future Fellow at UTS, working on a project entitled "Society and Climate Change: Social analysis of a disruptive technology".
